Trailblazers' results at the 2013 AAU National Jr. Olympic Games at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI (Detroit):

Trailblazers' coaches are very proud of the athletes on this team. And we thank all of our coaches for their hard work, time and dedication to the program and to the athletes!

This was the Tallahassee Trailblazers 3rd trip to the AAU National Jr. Olympic Games in Detroit (Ypsilanti), MI and it was a successful trip. There were over 9,000 track & field athletes from all over the U.S. Our team represented the State of Florida by bringing home five (5) medals, with two (2) of them ranked in 2nd place. [Top eight (8) finishers per event receive medals and are celebrated in the Awards arena on championship podiums.]

Our two "Silver" place medalists (2nd Place) are none other than brother and sister Jahaz & Tonie Morgan. There is nothing like the spirit of competition among siblings. Jahaz's determination in the last event of his Triathlon (400 meters) clinched the 2nd place finish in the Triathlon for 10 year old boys. Tonie sealed her 2nd place finish in the 9 year old girls Long Jump by jumping 13.3 feet. She actually held first place momentarily; it was quite exciting to hear that announced over the stadium's loud speaker. Again, Jahaz rose to the occasion in another event (Open 800 meters) finishing in 5th place. Last, but first in competition, our Racewalkers - Kayla Sapp & Imani Herring - started the team's celebration off with a blast by finishing in 6th (Kayla) and 8th (Imani) places in the 1500m Racewalk. We were on cloud nine!

And although no medals were given here, we have athletes who finished in the top 20th rankings in the Nation in their events - achievements definitely worth noting! Rajauhn Sancho and Jahaz Morgan finished in 11th place in the 10 year old boys High Jump. And Javan Morgan finished in 16th place in the 13 year old boys Long Jump.

These are very accomplished stats for the Tallahassee Trailblazers this year. We salute all of the athletes listed above. As always we hope those Trailblazers who competed at Nationals but did not make the rankings, as well as those who did not qualify for Nationals, will have a yearning to be in the rankings next year. With that 2014 will be a banner season!
