2007 Season Wrap-Up

Trailblazers 2007 AAU National Jr Olympic Games Summary
Knoxville, Tennessee

Trailblazers' National Qualifiers:
Jazmin Bush, Brittany Corbett, Dorian Corbett, Tevin Floyd, Tyson Floyd, Adrian Foushee, Chelsea Hills, Asia Jarmon, Jordan Johnson, Desmond Jones, Kieona Wilson

As far as the trip's travel time, hotel stays, shopping and the like things went well; as it was not as stressful schedule-wise as it has been in the past. The area we stayed in (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) was a very touristy-type place so it had a lot to offer.

But for the main purpose of the trip - track & field competition - our Trailblazers' as a whole was off the mark this year. Due to physical injuries, mental and psychological obstacles our Trailblazers just didn't come with it. Of the 11 that qualified for National competition only 7 were able to make the trip; of the 7 that made it only 1 was able to rise to the occasion.

Brittany Corbett had a stellar national trip. She qualified to compete in the 80m hurdles, high jump and 4x100 Relay. As you know this was her first year competing in the hurdles and she made a great effort in the competition. She was actually coming in first in her heat until she hit a hurdle that knocked her momentum off. Although she did not make it to the finals she bettered her time from 15.71 to 14.70. As always, Brittany made her mark in the high jump competition. She placed 5th overall in this event with a personal best record high of jumping 4-06! Her 4x100 team did not compete. Brittany's accomplishments made the Tallahassee Democrat (compliments of a family friend). Kudos to Brittany Corbett!

Corbett places at Junior Olympics:
Brittany Corbett, a sixth grader at Florida High, earned a medal at last week's AAU National Junior Olympics in Knoxville, Tenn. Corbett, a member of the Tallahassee Trailblazers track club, placed fifth in the high-jump competition with a best jump of 4-foot-6.

Next year we're going for redemption in DE-TROIT!
